Common questions
Before the Next Challenge
You do not need to arrive with the right equipment, a polished portfolio or a confident opinion. Begin with one question you would like to explore.
Do I need a special camera?
No. Use a phone, compact camera or interchangeable-lens camera. The exercises emphasize observation and deliberate choices. Our mobile craft guide starts with light, stability and framing before discussing equipment.
Is there a weekly deadline?
No. Weekly describes a suggested practice rhythm. The current prompt is self-paced and has no entry fee or prize. Repeat it with another subject whenever the exercise is useful.
Can I upload photographs here?
No. This website publishes educational guides and does not host uploads, accounts or a critique feed. References to participation mean activity in an external space of your choice.
Which editing app should I use?
Use an app you can learn comfortably that provides the controls you need. Preserve an original and learn exposure, color and local adjustments before adding more tools. The editing sequence is organized by purpose rather than by one product's interface.
Is editing allowed in the challenges?
Yes. Our exercises allow purposeful editing. Disclose meaningful alterations and follow any external community or competition rules. A documentary context may have different expectations from a creative composite.
What if feedback disagrees?
Compare suggestions with your intention, ask for specific observations and test alternatives without overwriting your original. You can appreciate a viewer's experience without adopting their preferred style.
May I edit someone else's photograph to explain feedback?
Ask permission first and follow the community's rules. Do not download, alter or repost work merely because it is publicly visible. A precise written description may communicate your idea without making a derivative version.
Do I need to register or pay?
No account or payment is required to read these guides. External platforms may have their own terms or charges. We do not provide memberships, certificates or paid critique through this static website.
Does the contact form send my message?
No. It prepares a plain-text draft locally so you can copy or download it and send it using your own email app. Draft text is not placed in localStorage. Read the privacy notice before emailing personal information.
